Days 11 & 12

Easter and the Alternate-Day Fast

I made it through Easter! Fortunately, my Feasting Day corresponded with Easter Sunday. My sister had a big meal at her place and I made a fancy cake. It was an Easter Pinata Cake inspired by Sarah Barnes of the Blog Taming Twins. Her Easter Ombre Pinata Cake is truly beautiful. I have much to learn about cake decorating but I think mine turned out pretty good for an amateur. Unfortunately, It was not gluten-free. I have yet to master the gluten-free white cake batter, but when I do I will post a recipe.

I was supposed to bake the cake Saturday, which was my fasting day. I went shopping and cleaned my house. I did not trust myself to not sneak a taste of the cake and the yummy frosting. The fasting day was by far the easiest yet it breezed by and I didn't have a single cup of broth. I had dinner at 5 pm and a shake at 9 pm as I was feeling peckish. I made the Almased shake with a 1/4 cup of cocoa and some sugar-free Almond Breeze. I also added Krisada as a sweetener. I love chocolate so it was easy to drink this low cal chocolate shake.

On Easter Sunday, I ate surprisingly little. I had a light breakfast and a snack at lunch time. When I got to my sisters I didn't eat dinner since it was very early and packed a small plate to go. I had the smallest slice of cake I have ever eaten when the desserts were put out. It was way too sweet for me. My nephew and his girlfriend ate the largest piece of cake I have ever seen. It was like a 1/4 of the cake. They didn't finish it but it sure was funny watching two teenagers try to devour this honking mass of cake.

I am pretty proud of myself. I didn't eat too much and kept the sweets to a minimum. This diet is really working. My appetite is really getting under control. Each fast day is a bit easier and I am noticing that my clothes are starting to fit better.  I tried on a dress that was too tight a few weeks ago and it fits. I am so amazed, this diet is easy to comply to and I feel like I am having real success at this. I can't wait till get on a scale and see the numbers.
